MeDia'S MoMenTum

1. What are your thoughts about the future of news and/or the future of advertising and public relations on the Web?
The future of news and advertising and public relation on the Web is absolutely prosperous and wonderful for individual purposes and for economic purposes. The thought of it scares many because people think eventually everything will go on this box that sits on a desk that we call a computer. Logically, this will not happen. People should think of putting things on the Web as a privilege or an asset that just adds to our everyday life. It doesn’t take away anything. For example, not very many people ever get to travel the world or even have time to explore the very communities in which they live to seek opportunity, new ground, or old ground. The Web gives the stay-at-home mom or the office cubicle-driven worker or the factory worker an opportunity to catch up on people, places and things that they are missing out on. So, when, one of the many citizens of the world go online, it’s almost as if they’ve entered a secret club of juicy media, tempting advertisements, and best of all opportunities for everything from jobs to research on how to cure a common cold. As for the environment or the atmosphere being that so much is moving to the web, it will be fine. Let’s not forget that you must have something visual to put on the Web. Times Square is definitely not going to change. It will never be the only place in the world that you can go to see a billboard. That is just absurd and impossible for it to ever happen. There is no way that the realistic concreteness of actual newspapers, magazines, or billboards will go away. It simply takes away from the scenery of everyday life. No one wants life to being just of virtual being. Just think about it! The majority of television is reality, things that we can see and we love every bit of it!

2. How do you think these changes in the media landscape will affect your careers in the field?
A journalist needs credibility. Anyone can put things online on sights such as Wikipedia which make those sights not as reliable as others. I do not feel that my career is at stake at all. As long as one can show themselves approved and of credibility then I believe that there is no doubt that will be successful leadership figures in whatever they do rather it be the writing the news or behind the scenes work in the editorial room. I feel that even more doors will open due to this new revolution. There will always be an appreciation for plausible journalist. Realistically, how many people are blessed with the talent of writing? Not many, and that is how so many are weeded out in so many different things from scholarships to life-long career opportunities. The media landscape is doing nothing more than stretching so that more and more of us can fit into it.

3. How do you and your friends use media?
My friends and I use media in every way possible. Ever since we were younger, we’ve all been enrolled in some computer classes along the way. The media is our outlet to laugh to play to smile or simply to enjoy life! It is revolutionary for our age group. Facebook is my favorite. Often times when I have meetings for my organizations, I check my Facebook. That is the college way of communicating. I recently bought the iPhone, and I absolutely love it! Who doesn’t love music, email, and surfing the Web! The convenience of it all is astonishing and beautiful in every way possible. I am excited for what is to come in the future.
